Canadian Coast Guard
We first worked with the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) to help them define a governance structure consisting of a Web Steering Committee and a Web Working Group. The Governance Structure provided the CCG with a clear delineation in roles and responsibilities, not only between strategic and tactical decisions and responsibilities but also between the regions and Headquarters, etc.
Working with the Web Steering Committee, we then defined a Vision for the Coast Guard's web presence. The vision for the CCG’s web presence serves to provide clear direction and guidance that can be applied to all aspects of the CCG’s web communications.
Concurrent with the development of the vision, we facilitated the development of publishing processes for all of the regions that would work within the operating environment of the Canadian Coast Guard and took into account its special relationship with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. We also identified risks to the sustainability of the website and assisted in identifying and prioritizing next steps and projects.
Longship’s contribution to our web renewal initiative has been immeasurable and impressive. Erik understood our requirements from the start and was able to provide us with a game plan and solutions that were easily accepted by everyone involved—webmasters, program managers, senior management, etc. The level of knowledge, flexibility (sometimes on the fly!), dedication and professionalism shown throughout the project showed us that Erik was part of the team and not just hired help.
